Hi all!
I'm new to the blogging world and I'm sure almost every blog out there has an awkward first post when the author openly states their "awkwardness"--so let's just bypass all of that and start anew, shall we?
I'm a happily married mama of one amazing little boy and am in the process of training for my first full marathon in November.
Let me just get this clear--I've never been a runner. I know, I know...a lot of people say this. Really hear me when I say this--I've never been a runner, until now. In junior high and high school, I would always try to plan how to best fake spraining my ankle when we would have to run for sports. Although I never successfully pulled it off, I always dreamed of it. Hey, a good "sprain" could get you out of running for at least a week...right?
In 2008 or so, I first started running for "fun" after my friend and I signed up for a 5k Fun walk/run and ended up running for quite a bit of it. Although we did it on a whim and "carb loaded" by drinking pints of Woodchuck Cider Beer the night before (I would *not* suggest this), there was something amazing about crossing the finish line of a race. This was the start of the running bug for me.
For several years, my friend and I annually ran this local 5k and had plans to upgrade to a half marathon in 2010--BUT I ended up getting pregnant and morning (all day) sickness got the better of me and plans were put on hold until this year. In May, we both successfully trained for and finished a half marathon and are planning on completing a full marathon in November! A first for both of us!
I'm not going to pretend I'm a running expert or anything--as I clearly am not. I'm not the fastest woman on the block (or even the most graceful) but I am trying my hardest to be the best version of myself that I can be!
With that said....off we go!
